
ATLANTA, GA – The 2025 Student Production Awards, hosted at the stunning SCAD Atlanta venue, concluded a highly successful evening of celebration and recognition for outstanding student work in media production. The ceremony, which brought together aspiring high school and college creators, honored a wide range of categories – from newscasts and news reports to fiction, sports, and multimedia journalism.
The event was masterfully led by industry veterans Donna Lowry and Blair Miller, whose introductions set an inspiring tone for the evening. Donna, an eight-time Emmy winner and prominent host on Georgia Public Television, welcomed the audience with encouraging words on the importance of networking and career-building within the industry. “NATAS Southeast is proud to support the future of our industry through the Students Production Awards,” said Donna Lowry, SPA chairperson. “We are dedicated to guiding and inspiring aspiring journalists, entertainment professionals, and creatives of all backgrounds to pursue excellence in their craft and reach their full potential.” This powerful statement underscored the awards’ mission to empower emerging talent and foster a spirit of excellence and innovation in media.
Blair Miller, an accomplished journalist and elected member of the NATAS Southeast Board, shared insights on how accolades serve as career milestones that open doors to internships, jobs, and groundbreaking opportunities.
Throughout the program, a host of esteemed presenters – including Karyn Greer, Tyrik Wynn, Aurea McGarry, Raquel Riley Thomas, Dodie Cantrell Bickley, Tracey Rogers, Darryl Cohen, Eric Ludgood, and Sharleta Stamps – took to the stage to announce winners across multiple categories. In the college segment, awards recognized excellence in newscasts, serious and light news reports, music videos, and various non-fiction and fiction productions. The high school awards highlighted achievements in multimedia journalism, live reporting, and creative storytelling, emphasizing the impressive efforts of the next generation of media professionals.
In addition to the on-stage accolades, the awards program underscored the importance of community and mentorship in the field. Esteemed industry professionals and board members – including those from the NATAS Southeast Board of Governors – were recognized for their pivotal roles in nurturing young talent and shaping the future of broadcast journalism and entertainment.
