Hey y’all, it’s Rocki Patrice, back with another good read about Atlanta and everything that makes our city great!
I recently sat down with Omar Ali, and let me tell you—it was eye-opening. We talked about his business mindset and political connections, and it’s clear he’s not just talking about change—he’s making it happen. He’s all about supporting businesses, rebuilding communities, and creating real opportunities for people in Atlanta.
Just recently, Omar hosted Atlanta’s Mayor, Andre Dickens, at his home for a private gathering with close friends and family. That says a lot about the kind of influence he has and his dedication to improving the city. Omar Ali has a lovely family who took some beautiful photos with the Atlanta mayor. You can see them sharing laughter and great energy with each other, along with other friends, family, and small business owners.
One of the biggest topics at the meeting was how Atlanta is helping small businesses and making housing more affordable. Programs like the Atlanta Commercial Down Payment Assistance Loan Program and Resurgence Grants have already helped a lot of small businesses get back on their feet, with over $8.2 million given out in 2022 alone.
Mayor Dickens is also pushing hard for affordable housing. He launched a five-year plan to build and maintain 10,000 affordable homes by 2027. Through a program called the Atlanta Urban Development Corporation (AUD)—inspired by a successful model in Copenhagen—the city is already working on 40 housing projects. There’s also a $60 million investment to help fight homelessness, which includes building 700 new housing units with extra support services to help people get back on their feet.
Stay tuned, as ill be bringing you more updates on what’s happening in the city!
